Guide to Toddler Nutrition
If you have young children then you have no doubt wondered about toddler nutrition. It can be a very confusing subject, which very few people manage to get their heads around! When your toddler starts to grow, you will not only need to change their wardrobe and toys, you will also need to consider changing their diet.
You need to understand that what you are feeding your toddler now, is what your toddler will get used to. This means that your child’s diet today is important for their future, as this will form the building blocks of their diet for the rest of their life. This is why it’s so important to spend time teaching them good eating habits when they are young.
When introducing solid foods to your toddler, you need to spend some time thinking about how you should do it. I personally think it’s a better idea to feed them things like mashed vegetables and avocado rather than sweet foods. This is because I believe it will interest them much more in healthy food, and doesn’t get your child used to eating sweets, which for the most part are not as healthy and don’t offer nutritional benefits.
You should try to make sure that your child’s diet is balanced as early as possible, then make sure you continue to keep it balanced throughout the rest of their childhood.
When your child is old enough you can feed sweets as treat, however these should not be fed regularly. A great snack is raw vegetables such as carrots, crackers, cheese, and some fruits.
Your toddler will start to become picky about what they are eating, it’s completely normal. However make sure that you don’t give in, make sure that your toddler continues to eat healthy. Picky children will complain when they receive something that they don’t like, you just have to put your mind in neutral and not listen!
Children have a thing about eating their greens. Try to make them realize that they are actually not that bad.
While there are obstacles that will be in the way, nutrition for children doesn’t have to be as difficult as you might imagine. Once you’ve gotten your child used to eating the right foods, then don’t let all that hard work go to waste. Keep the diet going so you can keep them from wanting those unhealthy foods down the road.
