Baby Furniture to Purchase before Bringing Your Baby Home

Bookmark and Share| |

You may be overwhelmed by the amount of items you will need to purchase for your little one. As a new parent, it can be hard to resist wanting to buy everything you see, but the costs can add up quickly. Luckily, there are many items, like highchairs, portable feeding seats, and safety gates that you can put off buying for now. There are, however, certain essential pieces of furniture that you should purchase and assemble prior to coming home from the hospital.

Essential infant furniture

  • Bassinet
  • Crib and mattress
  • Changing Table w/storage
  • Dresser

Additional items you may find helpful

  • Comfortable chair (i.e. Glider and ottoman)
  • Hamper
  • Play Yard
  • Toy Chest (for the many gifts you will no doubt receive)
  • Extra storage (you'll need it!)
  • Lamps

If you are having trouble deciding where to start when designing your baby's nursery, spend some time brainstorming about what you would like the room to feel like. Picking a theme and selecting furniture that fits this theme is a great way to create a cohesive nursery that both you and your baby will feel comfortable in. Some popular nursery themes include Noah's Arc, the jungle, sports, popular cartoon characters, teddy bears, the ocean, trains, and western themed rooms. If you can't decide on a theme, simply starting with some colors you like is a great way to get the ball rolling. Happy shopping!
