It's time to get your body back, so how do you start? Well, if you have just given birth, you need to wait until you have clearance from your doctor; then take exercising slowly so your body can adjust. Walking is the best way to develop your muscles and prepare your body for more strenuous exercise.

Here are a few ideas on workout routines that can help you get your body back:

    1) Walk / Run - give your daily walk a boost by adding running intervals. Walk for 5 minutes, and then run for 30 seconds. Repeat for 30 minutes. Every day, cut down the amount of walking and increase the running until you are able to run for the entire time.

    2) Hiking - enjoy the great outdoors, and spend time with your little one by strapping on a backpack and heading for the hills. Hiking is a great way to tone muscles and get some cardio.

    3) Aerobics - get your blood pumping with some high impact aerobics. There are many fun classes at your local gym or community center to enjoy.

    4) Yoga - tone, lengthen, and strengthen your muscles with some great yoga classes. Move up through the ranks until you are a real yoga master.

    5) Swimming - whether it's laps or swim-aerobics classes, heading to the pool is a great way to burn off fat and tone your muscles from head to toe.

The important thing is not what you choose to do, but that you get out there and start doing it. Try to pick one or two activities, and do them twice a week or more. On the days you aren't heading to classes or out for a jog, keep up your activity level with a brisk walk or a home workout. This will help your muscles recover from your previous workout, and you will see results faster.

Keep up the good work, and you will start to see a difference in just a few weeks, along with increased energy levels - which is something all new moms need. If you find that a particular exercise isn't working for you, then find something else that does, and congratulate yourself for taking good care of your body.
