I'm just about 8 weeks pregnant and started bleeding out of the blue last night. It was red and a lot. This is my first. I'm scared. I called the doctor. She said it could be signs of a miscarriage starting. I have since elevated feet all night. I'm still bleeding this morning but not as much. Please help. I'm scared and freaking out.

Lately, my 10 month old son has wanted ALL of my attention. If I put him down he screams and cries. This is becoming a problem when there is laundry, dishes, and other household chores I need to get finished. If I put him down, he will follow me through the house crying and screaming and when I stop long enough, he grabs onto my legs. Even though I continually pick him up and reassure him I'm not leaving, he continues to cry when I put him back down. This can last for HOURS! How can I complete my chores without feeling like I'm a horrible mom because my son is crying.

I am a little over 38 weeks pregnant. I have been having cramps all day and my lower back has been hurting. Its not very regular. It will hurt for a while (about 20 minutes) and then ease up for a while. It is my third baby but with both of my other kids, my water broke 6 - 8 hours into light contractions. This has been going on for about 12 hours or more. My doctor and hospital are 45 minutes away and it is now after 10 pm so I can't call the doctor's office plus I have a 7 and 3 year old so I don't want to go to the hospital until I know for sure that its labor. What do you think? Is it labor? It hurts but like I said, but its sporadic.

I am 39 weeks and 1 day and I have been in false labor for about a week. The contractions have gotten stronger, but they don't ever become too painful. My doctor sent me to the hospital 2 days ago telling me that I may have my baby that day.. the nurse checked and said I was 1/2cm dilated with contractions 5 min apart but since there was no change over a few hours there wasn't much they could do. I am constantly burping, my arms/arm pits are extremely sore, my stomach keeps getting rock hard to the point of it being uncomfortable/hard to breathe, I get back pain and I've been having discharge as well as loose bowels and I have lost my appetite. Is there anything I can do to get the process going or stop this all from happening? I am getting increasingly frustrated, impatient and tired of the false labor.

I am a high risk pregnancy due to previous miscarriage and my daughter was born at 32 weeks premature. During the c-section with my daughter my uterus contracted on her head and the doctor had to make a T incision (classical cut) on my uterus which is now making this pregnancy scary for me. At my last visit my doctor said we needed to do an amniocentesis at 37 weeks to check for lung maturity and then deliver the baby if his lungs are good. I am very skeptical about having an amniocentesis. There are risks either way I go. If I go into labor on my own he says I could rupture which would be fatal to the baby. What is your opinion about the amniocentesis and what is your thoughts on my situation?

I have 5 children, ages 10, 8, 5, and 4 (all boys). And a 10mo daughter. May 1, 2011 my 5yr old son's father committed suicide. It was very sudden and tragic. His father had played an active role in our son's life, including throughout my pregnancy and up until the day he left this Earth. We had a mother/father relationship with our son, but we were also still close friends, going on 8yrs and counting. I am finding it difficult to deal with the loss of him as my friend, but at the same time I am trying to find the way to cope as a mother for a grieving little boy. I need some helpful advice to help us get past these times and reserve his memory. I'm scared that our son will forget his favorite moments. I have already started a scrapbook and for Father's Day we wrote a letter to Daddy, put it in a balloon and let it go at his grave. We talk about Daddy everyday, draw pictures with sidewalk chalk, and read from the bible every night. He also has a picture of him and his Daddy hanging above his bed. And he has been spending as much time as possible with his side of the family. We have made it a routine to visit the grave every Friday. But he never wants to talk or anything. He just stands there. And he has only really cried a couple of times and that just started recently. He didn't cry at the viewing or funeral. He was worried the other day because he thought he had lost something that his Daddy bought him. I tried to explain to him that one day he will grow out of the clothes and shoes that his Dad bought, but that is okay because that just means he is a healthy growing little boy and his Daddy would be so proud! I am not sure how to get him past this or even help him through it. I'm struggling each and every day. We need to find comfort in the midst of all this. Please, if there is any kind of thoughts or advice you can give me to help us I would greatly appreciate it!

Hello I'm 33 weeks and 4 days. At 31 weeks I was placed in bed rest, admitted to the hospital overnight and given two doses of IM steriods over a 24 hr period because my cervix was shortening and I had been having contractions. I was placed on Procardia until 36 weeks. I actually have two questions. Is it possible to go into labor while taking the Procardia? And if my baby is born at 36 weeks will he have to be in the NICU?

How do you care for penis after circumcision?

I had a miscarriage almost 2 years ago. My doctor never told me what went wrong but she did tell me that after about 6 months it would be safe for me and my husband to try again. When I am off the drug, will I automatically go into labor?

Hello. I was already 3 months when I found out. Within those 3 months, I smoked cigarettes, drank & sometimes smoke drugs (weed & crack), even though it wasn't every day. I must be honest if I want an honest answer. The weed was everyday. Soon as it was confirmed from the doctors office I stopped smoking weed & drinking. I was a pack & a half a day cigarette smoker. I went from that to 1 or 2 smokes a day. Even after finding out, I've had a few times I smoked that hard stuff. I've finally made the choice to stop everything completely. I'm now 20 weeks along & I do feel my baby moving. I'm scared that I've harmed this child. I've made the choice that this baby is way more important to me than any partying. My questions are have I done any damage to my unborn child? By stopping everything have I increased the chances of my child being healthy?

Went to my OB @ 14 weeks and when he went to listen to the heartbeat he had trouble finding it in the typical place..(lower area) but then he went up just past my belly button and to the right and there it was strong and loud. Hello. I have read in other publications that you should not "blow air into the vagina"......during pregnancy. I have also seen this caution when speaking of using tampons during pregnancy...that tampon use could push air into the vagina, which is undesirable. Hi. I was just wondering if it is possible that the doctors have my due date wrong. I never really knew the day of my last period because I didn't keep track of that stuff. I would just start my period and put a pad on. So the doctors have been using my earliest ultrasound for the due date, which is June 19th. I had a later one and it said my due date was June 14th. My doctor insists the earlier one is more accurate. The thing is, my baby was already 5 pounds and 4 ounces at 31 weeks pregnant, and I am now almost 33 weeks pregnant, so she is probably even bigger. Is it possible that she is so much "bigger" than normal because she is farther along than both due dates? I don't have gestational diabetes. This is more of a behavior problem. Earlier today my 3 1/2 year old son was sitting next to my 6 month old daughter. She was happily playing under her floor gym and he was watching a cartoon. He has never shown any jealousy or violence toward her before and we keep him involved with her all the time. He loves hugging and holding her and he was the first one to get her to laugh. He is still the only one to really get her to belly laugh. He sings to her when she cries. He pats her on the back to help burp her and always wants to hold her. He shows her off to people and calls her 'cuteable', a word he made up from cute and adorable. Now I am afraid to have him near her. He could have easily stepped hard enough to hurt her badly. She had a slight red mark which faded after an hour. What should I do?

My son is 12 weeks old and every night he goes to bed with little to no scratches on his face but in the morning when he wakes up his forehead looks like a cat scratched the hell out of it. We use lotion or Aquaphor to moisturize his forehead because we believed that his skin was dried. Before that we tried mineral oil because he had cradle cap as well. The cradle cap went away but he is still digging his forehead. We also have tried those first aid mittens and socks on his hands which didn't do anything because he rubs his hand on his face until they come off. His nails have been clipped and filed down as short as we dare to go. He has a bath every night before he goes to bed and then we put lotion or Aquaphor on his forehead. We are at a loss on what to do to keep him from scratching his face so badly, we feel so bad in the morning when we see it, what can we do???? Please help!!

Hello, I have a 5 week old baby girl whose umbilical cord hasn't fallen off. Everything seems to be fine with it, and I noticed that it's starting to come off a bit. I'm just kind of worried that it's taking longer to come off since my first daughter's umbilical cord came off within the first 3 weeks.

Hi, I just had a quick question.. Is it possible to have a miscarriage at 7 months pregnant, or do you usually have them in the beginning of your term?

I stopped taking my prenatal vitamins because I get constipated all the time and it really hurts. Is that bad, or dangerous, in any way?

Hi. I have an 18 month old son who can't fall asleep by himself. I had always allowed him to sleep with me even when he was an infant, and he was never put in his crib. I have a five year old who is in kindergarten. I discovered lice on Christmas Eve. I am 29 weeks pregnant and I have a serious problem with constipation. I've taken stool softeners and laxatives and still no relief. I eat healthy. My Husband watches the baby on his days off, so I can get some time in at work. Our son has recently been given reflux medication and Thrush medication. Being that, Tyler (our son) has been very uncomfortable as I am sure you can imagine. Well, on my days that I work, he keeps the baby in his swing to soothe him as he falls asleep. (Tyler would not sleep on his back for a long time due to sour stomach and serious gas and constipation issues that we are still battling) Now Tyler only wants to sleep in his swing and it is very difficult to get him to take a full nap in his crib. My son Zachary was born 13 weeks early on Dec. 24, 2008 at an amazing 2lbs 6oz, 14 1/2 inches long. Now he will be 2yrs old this X-Mas Eve and even though he has gone through 2 V.P. shunt surgeries (2nd was a revision) and had both eyes lasered to stop abnormalities you probably wouldn't know his issues unless I told you. We Have been truly blessed. My Question is Zac has reached every milestone according to age and has been consistent on all levels even though it's been at his own pace. My one concern is he does not say any words at all. He is extremely verbal and makes lots of noises, but will not put words together. We don't even get mama or dada yet. Dear Phylana, I am in my 38th week of pregnancy and just got back from my doctors office and I found out my baby is lying in a transverse position. During my 34th-37th weeks my baby's head was down and so happy about it. I have a 4 1/2 month old healthy baby girl. She was a great sleeper (9/10pm-5/6am) up until her 3 month growth spurt. She started getting up around 1/2am for a feed and right back to her crib (exclusively breastfed), then eventually went back to 4/5am. 1 ½ mts later, she is now getting up 2-3 times a night for a feed. We tried Cry It Out (recommended by our doctor) and she went back to sleeping 6-8 hr. stretches. That lasted for 4-5 days then it went back to up every 3/4 hrs. She has almost doubled her birth weight (now-12lb 12oz) so I think she really might be hungry (but not all 3 times a night?!) – we’re introducing rice cereal now- She's a great napper (sleeps between 4-6 hrs/day) and we slowly moved bedtime to 8/8:30pm. I've read about 4 months "wakeful" period... but I need HELP...going back to work in 2 weeks!!!!

Hi, In 2007-2008 I went through fertility and it was found that I had Ovarian Dysfunction. Without medication, my eggs (or folicals) were 10mm. With all the pills and injections one egg (or folical) hit 17mm which at that time I was told it was still small. My then husbands sperm wasn't any good.... I was told to get a sperm donor and they would put me on higher doses of meds and if I had a viable egg (or folical) I would have a 5% chance of getting pregnat. They told me to use an egg donor and a sperm donor to get pregnannt or go home and be an empty vessel. I made a choice to be an empty vessel. In early 2009 my menstral cycle wasn't enough to wear a tampon or a pad. I had a slight smear on the toilet paper and had no cramps or other symptons.. My doc told me I was getting ready for menopause. In 2010 I was in a relationship and told my partner the above information.... and we both made a choice not to use protection. In March 2010 I found myself pregnant... how did that happen after what I was told? He now thinks I trapped him which I didn't. I obtained my fertility papers to show him but he is not interested. Do you have any advice for me ? He is so angry and I am due this Nov. Thank You!
