Celebrity Moms - Just Like You

There’s Katie Holmes, Kate Gosselin, Nicole Richie, Brooke Shields, Ashlee Simpson, Tori Spelling, and, of course, Angelina Jolie.

The list keeps going.

They are celebrity moms.

Women just like you and me, yet, somehow intriguing because of their professional lives. What attracts the public to follow them? Is it their talent? Beauty? Is it their money that makes us interested in the "glamorous" life they lead?

Whatever it is, there are some things to keep in mind when following these ladies.

First and foremost, they are moms just like you. We may catch a glimpse of them when they are "dolled" up for an evening party or on the beach with their babe (and baby) in arms. I’m guessing these outings generally follow an experience with a professional stylist, make-up artist, and wardrobe assistant. We’d all look that good if we had that kind of support!

Although the moments we see in magazines or on TV seem to be all glitz and glamour, the fact that they are moms means they have experienced a bit of what you are experiencing too.

Even with a personal trainer and chef (which, let’s face it, would make life a little easier), they most likely struggled through the emotional roller coaster ride associated with post-delivery and the early months of parenthood. Their bodies had to rebound from the multitude of hormonal and other changes associated with post-delivery. Even money can’t get them out of such "fun."

You may have the support of family and friends. These superstars may also have that, though, chances are they may be far from their immediate families. However, most are likely to have support (i.e. nanny) that ensures them a quiet, restful night’s sleep. Although we don’t get inside their rooms, my guess is that some will still choose to awake with their child, and just like you and me, watch over their every breath.

Chances are that these moms still struggle with fussy babies, "blowout" diapers, spit-up, and all the other excitement babies can bring. They may feel guilty when leaving their baby for jobs or other outings. No matter how they look to us, internally, they may also struggle with acceptance for who they are and how they look.

So, next time you look at them, follow them for what it is worth – entertainment. It’s interesting to see what they do, where they go, and what they wear. But, at the end of the day, they are pretty much just like you and me – moms.
